AudioDice is for those moments when you have been turning the same six knobs for twenty minutes and somehow made everything worse. Load a third-party plugin inside it, roll the dice and let AudioDice throw its parameters somewhere you probably would not have put them yourself. It is not trying to replace your synths or effects. It gives them a chaos button. Sometimes the result is useless, sometimes ridiculous and occasionally it is exactly the sound you did not know you were looking for.
Roll for a New Sound
At its core, AudioDice randomizes the parameters of hosted plugins to generate new combinations quickly. Instead of manually exploring every possible position of every control, you can jump through variations and listen for happy accidents. The amount of randomness can be adjusted and parameters can be protected from the roll, so chaos does not necessarily mean destroying everything. Keep the settings you care about, randomize the rest and see what survives.
Professional Button Mashing
Randomization can sound like surrendering creative control, but AudioDice is more useful as an idea generator. A strange parameter combination can reveal a side of a familiar plugin that you would never have reached by carefully nudging knobs in the usual direction. That makes it especially handy for sound design, preset hunting and getting unstuck. You still decide what sounds good. AudioDice simply volunteers to press buttons you were too sensible to press.
